Phoebe is suffering from Bipolar disorder. She was raped at 10 by a relative during her father's funeral. After this traumatic experience she became mute. She has been sexually assaulted multiple times since then and kept two of her children conceived after the abuses. Since she arrived in Uganda with her mother and her two children, she comes often to visit psychologists at MSF health facility to find support and comfort.

On the second day since Kulla was born she started receiving severe seizures. It is since she became 8 years old that her seizures became even more severe. Today they can last for a few hours. In Zone 3 where Kulla lives there are no doctors-specialists for her condition and the medications are not coming regularly, as there was recently shortages in medicines and treatments.

Joyce is suffering from the sleeping sickness since 1989 after a Tse Tse flies bite in South Sudan. She has developed since then mental health issues due to an absence of treatment for her sickness. Her husband remarried and currently lives in Zone 2 in BidiBidi refugee settlement. Her lonely son and his wife with whom she escaped from South Sudan are taking care of her.

James Larube, 18 from South Sudan outside his home in Zone 3 at the BidiBidi refugee settlement in Northern Uganda on September 5, 2017. James was born normally in South Sudan. But soon after his birth started violent headaches and one day he felt into coma. Declared dead at the hospital, his family brought the body back to home and he suddenly woke up. His family put him on a treatment but he as since then developed mental health issues as a consequence of the coma.

Perez is suffering from a traumatic stress and a severe depression after seven of her children were shot killed in front of her in South Sudan. She ran away from the killing to hide in the bush. She stayed there for a few days before people could find her.

Bosco Ladu, 9 from South Sudan is being washed by his mother outside their house in Zone 3 at the BidiBidi refugee settlement in Northern Uganda on September 8, 2017. Soon after Bosco's birth, he started convulsing possibly because he was affected with Malaria. Due to heavy medication given at a hospital in Juba and a lack of facilities and specialist in South Sudan, his situation got worse. He has developed serious handicap.

On one evening, Nancy's mother went out to the bush to collect wood and left her child alone at home. A 15 year old boy from South Sudan living near Nancy's home came meanwhile and raped her. When Nancy's mother came back home hours later she found the girl unconscious and bleeding from her genitals. Nancy has since then developed epilepsy and has nightmares at night. Her aggressor has never been found.

According to her parents Beatrice was born normal. Seven years ago she developed hydrocephalus. No specialist doctors in Northern Uganda are taking care of her condition and she has no treatments available.

Hillary was infected with HIV in 2014 in Juba, South Sudan's capital where he was working. He was under treatment in South Sudan until he fled to Northern Uganda last September. There was no health facilities at the time in Zone 3 that was providing HIV treatment. His condition worsened to the point where he almost died before a MSF surveillance team took him to another health facility that could provide him a HIV treatment.

Beti was probably infected with Polio soon after she was born. The parents never took her to the hospital so she has never been properly diagnosed. Recently, an NGO brought her a wheelchair so that she can use it to go to school. Her father said that they brought it when nobody was home with a flat tire.

Stella is probably suffering from Hepatitis B. Since the family fled from South Sudan to Northern Uganda last year, her parents took her three times to the Democratic Republic of Congo to visit hospitals where she could see specialist doctors to diagnosed her condition and to give her a proper treatment but all have failed to succeed. She has since then developed liver failure and heart failure and is paralyzed from both legs.

Joseph stepped on a anti-personnel mine in 1998 as he was fleeing the war in South Sudan. He was given a prothesis in 2014 in Juba's main hospital in South Sudan but the prothesis as since then broke. He cannot work due to his handicap and has a family of 4 children and a wife.
