Yangi Kiden, 8 from South Sudan is washed outside her house by her grandmother, Imelda Kiden, 70 in Zone 3 at the BidiBidi refugee settlement in Northern Uganda on September 6, 2017. After a grenade exploded next to her, killing her brother in South Sudan, Yangi lost the power of speech, cannot hear and developed mental health issues. Her mother remarried and went to live in Juba, her father took with him the only remaining healthy child and left Yangi to her grandmother. Overwhelmed by the difficulties to raise a child with mental health issues on her own Yangi's grandmother left her all days and nights tied to a rope in a overheating hut. The girl is severely malnourished even though she's slightly improving since a child care team started visiting her.
